PA EITC Program

Stronger schools create stronger communities

In today’s world, it takes more than tax dollars to provide a quality education for our children. Eroding tax bases, the constant need to upgrade technologies, and the increasing demand for specialized programs for at-risk and special education students all combine to make it necessary for private and corporate leaders to begin supporting what used to be supported by tax-dollars alone.

Your company and your employees take pride in your community. Participating in the PA EITC Program enables you to support the creation and funding of specific educational programs that sustain and improve the education of our youth; producing more positively engaged citizens and a skilled, motivated field of potential employees for your business and the entire community.

Your participation can have a dramatic effect on local public education revenues; and thus, on the ability of your schools to provide students what they need to continue on to post-secondary education and training programs and to become thriving members of your local force!

The Cocalico Education Foundation is fortunate to have a number of local businesses participate in the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC). Eligible businesses are those authorized to do business in Pennsylvania and are subject to one or more of the following taxes:

  • Corporate Net Income Tax
  • Capital Stock Franchise Tax
  • Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax
  • Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax
  • Insurance Premiums Tax
  • Mutual Thrift Institution Tax
  • Personal Income Tax of Corporation Shareholders or Partnership Partners

An eligible business can be approved for a tax credit equal to 75% of its contribution(s) to an approved nonprofit Educational Improvement Organization (EIO) such as the CEF to a maximum of $400,000 per taxable year. The tax credit may be increased to 90% of the contribution(s) made, to a maximum of $400,000 per taxable year, if the business agrees to provide the same amount of contribution(s) for two consecutive years.
